Maíra S Teixeira
Maíra Serra Teixeira was named after a novel by renowned Brazilian author Darcy Ribeiro. She was a small child when her parents opened a bookshop from their living room, and she has lived surrounded by books ever since. For ten years, Maíra worked as the Sales and Marketing Director at São Paulo’s Livraria Freebook, a specialist bookshop devoted to art and design and frequented by the city’s interior designers, bloggers and stylists. Bold and Bright is her first book and was inspired by her desire to share the beautiful things she sees on her travels and to capture them in the pages of a book that has a touch of Brazilian soul.
BOLD AND BRIGHT
During the 1950s and ‘60s, with its gleaming new space-age capital Brasilia, Brazil was in the vanguard of architecture and design and its interiors still possess a generous dash of glossy modernity and mid-century chic. This sleek contemporary glamour is combined with the rustic, natural materials that are in such generous supply on the South American continent – rough-hewn stone, exotic dark woods and an abundance of jungly greenery.
From city perches in the urban jungle to country homes amid soaring mountains and beach houses sitting serenely above long, unspoilt beaches, Bold and Bright provides a fascinating glimpse into a selection of real-life Brazilian homes.
